AAPM&R Responds to IRF and SNF Proposed Rules

Members & Publications

June 17, 2022

On May 31 and June 10, your Academy submitted comments to the IRF and SNF Fiscal Year 2023 proposed rules.  Comments submitted center on a request for information, which was included in both rules, addressing quality measures for health disparities.  Our comments on these issues, were developed based on input collected via survey and conference call from members practicing in the SNF and IRF settings.

In addition to these comments, AAPM&R also joined the Coalition for Preserving Rehabilitation in submitting a joint comment letter regarding a request for information about the Home Health Transfer Policy.  Your Academy continues to prioritize reimbursement advocacy across all settings where physiatrists practice.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
