The Coordinator, Health Policy provides project coordination and operational support for the Academy's Health Policy, Practice, Quality, and Research initiatives. This role coordinates key programs, committee activities, and department communications while ensuring projects are executed efficiently and aligned with organizational priorities. Working collaboratively with internal staff, volunteer physician leaders, and external stakeholders, the coordinator helps advance Academy advocacy efforts, practice resources, and strategic initiatives that deliver value to members and support the specialty of physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Position Summary:
The Coordinator, Health Policy is a growth-oriented role supporting the Academy's health policy, practice, quality, and research initiatives with a special focus on helping shape current and future Academy practice preparedness priorities. Coordinates department projects related to Academy position statements, special events such as summits and think tanks with volunteer leaders, committee and workgroup meetings, and physician practice innovation efforts. The coordinator facilitates department communications and packaging of department deliverables to demonstrate member value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinates events, such as the Academy’s Technology Summit, and supports practice innovation initiatives related to members’ use of emerging technologies including AI.
- Provides project support for Practice Management Strategic Planning Committee deliverables, including the Expert Conversations webinar series and other physician practice preparedness resources.
- Provides support for in-person meetings with members including departmental summits, committee, and sub-committee meetings. This support will include scheduling, logistical support, preparing agendas, and documenting meeting minutes.
- Supports departmental projects related to the review, development, and maintenance of Academy position statements.
- Facilitates the appointment process for Academy member representatives serving as liaisons to external medical societies, federal agencies, and other organizations.
- Develops and maintains department communications, including news articles, website content, and online communications; maintains department webpages and publishes departmental resources.
- Provides administrative and operational support for the department, including scheduling meetings, preparing meeting materials, recording minutes, and coordinating routine departmental activities.
- Coordinates the programming, distribution, and management for member surveys conducted by the department.
- Assists with the planning and promoting advocacy campaigns through the Academy's grassroots engagement platform, Voter Voice.
- Serves as backup support for member/customer service inquiries as needed.
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned by the Senior Director of Practice, Reimbursement, and Regulatory Affairs.
Required Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience preferred.
- Two+ years of experience in a healthcare association, nonprofit, or similar professional organization preferred.
- Experience supporting healthcare policy, healthcare technology, advocacy, or physician/member engagement initiatives preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams).
- Experience with association management systems, including iMIS, is preferred.
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to interact professionally, knowledgeably, and courteously with Academy members, volunteer leaders, internal staff, and external stakeholders.
- Strong research, analytical, organizational, and data management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate information clearly, accurately and effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with the ability to build productive working relationships across departments and with physician volunteers and external partners.
