Feb 4, 2026, 13:06 by Joy Thissen

This week, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) posted the Ambulatory Specialty Model (ASM) Participants dataset which contains the names clinicians that are required to participate in the ASM, beginning January 1, 2027. The file contains names of approximately 4,000 participants of the low back pain portion of the model. Participants are limited to certain mandatory geographic areas and include physicians who specialize in PM&R as well as anesthesiology, pain management, interventional pain management, neurosurgery, or orthopedic surgery. The model is inclusive of physicians who have historically treated at least 20 low back episodes per year. Members are encouraged to check the dataset to confirm whether they are included in the model. More information about ASM is on the CMS website including this ASM Participant Roadmap.
