In recent weeks, AAPM&R has partnered with the Multisociety Pain Workgroup (MPW) in support of coverage for several pain-related procedures. In late February, AAPM&R joined an MPW coalition in providing comments to National Government Services regarding their proposed Local Coverage Determination for basivertebral nerve destruction. Additionally, this week, AAPM&R supported MPW comments to Cigna and UnitedHealthcare in support of coverage for peripheral nerve stimulation. AAPM&R’s engagement with the MPW is an important part of the Academy’s ongoing reimbursement advocacy strategy.
