2019 Annual Assembly Official Program: Apologies

Members & Publications

November 20, 2019

To All of My Colleagues:

On behalf of the Board of Governors, I would like to start my term as president by apologizing for something that happened in the publishing of the Official Program for the San Antonio Annual Assembly. There was an inexcusable demonstration of implicit bias with image placement in the program booklet.

We are committed to improving systems of operations and defining corrective plans of action, which include prevention of future recurrences and system improvement. We are also committed to acknowledging our errors. I look forward to working with each one of you to strengthen our diversity and inclusion journey. I'm hopeful that each one of you will feel empowered to reach out to the Board of Governors to voice your observations, concerns, and hopefully your encouragement. We can be reached at boardofgovernors@aapmr.org.

With warmest regards,
Michelle Gittler, MD, FAAPMR
AAPM&R President

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
