Prepare your practice for success with the new Focusing on the Health of Your Practice resources! These highly-rated sessions from the 2016 Annual Assembly include:

  • Optimizing Physician/Health System Alignment: How to Empower Physicians and Administrators to Work Constructively Together in a Changing Health Care Environment: In many health care organizations, change processes are not successful in their implementation. This module utilizes change management concepts and discusses effective physician leadership initiatives.
  • Innovations in Post-Acute Rehabilitation Environments: More patients receive post-acute rehabilitation outside of traditional inpatient rehab facilities (IRF's) than in them today. This course highlights changes in health care policy, regulations, and service delivery impacting post-acute care settings. Innovations in post-acute care needed to address the upcoming "tsunami" of aging baby boomers in a cost-effective manner will be presented. The ways that different levels of post-acute care fit into new models of health care financing (such as Accountable Care Organizations and Value Based Health Care) are addressed.
  • Practice Efficiency: Using Extenders to Optimize Practice: How do 1% of doctors manage the largest causes of morbidity and the most costly outliers without getting shoved off the field? Physician Extenders! In the changing landscape of medicine, PM&R doctors can provide leadership and perspective--from management of back pain to the rehabilitation of major trauma. The DNA of the Physiatry specialty is to work with teams. Our numbers are insufficient to address the emerging landscape of medicine without help. Where else to start than in demonstrating leadership in the education of the physician extender?

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
