AAPM&R Opposes VA Directive to Amend Non-Physician Scope of Practice

June 24, 2020

On June 24, 2020, your Academy supported a coalition letter to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in opposition to their recent Directive and Memorandum. The letter urges the VA to amend Directive 1899 to defer to state scope of practice laws for non-physician health care professionals in 32 specialties and to rescind the related Memorandum as it encouraged all VA medical facilities to allow CRNAs to practice without physician oversight during the national health emergency. Learn more about what your Academy is doing to defend physiatrists' scope of practice.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
