Members & Publications

April 6, 2021

We are thrilled to share that AAPM&R has been honored by Association Forum, the association for association executives, representing nearly 1,600 associations, with its 2021 Welcoming Environment ® award!

What is a Welcoming Environment®?

Welcoming Environment® is defined as the creation of a sense of belonging and connectedness that engages individuals in an authentic manner in which uniqueness is valued, respected and supported through opportunities and interaction.

The Welcoming Environment® Organizational Award is given to an association that has demonstrated exemplary outcomes in providing an inclusive and welcoming environment and culture. AAPM&R’s Board of Governors recognizes and appreciates the leadership of  D.J. Kennedy, MD, chair of the Inclusion and Engagement committee, and Carla Watson, MD, chair of the Diversity and Inclusion committee, in their ongoing efforts advancing diversity and inclusion for AAPM&R members.

“We are all proud to have received this recognition from Chicagoland’s long-standing ‘Association of Associations.’  This is a testament to the vision, dedication, and commitment to real change. Building an inclusive community is a long-term process, in fact a journey.  The Academy’s Board of Governors, volunteer leaders, and staff are steadfast toward advancing a culture of listening and learning from each other, supporting an equitable environment for all members, and seeking strength from our diversity.”

- Stuart M. Weinstein, MD, FAAPMR, AAPM&R President

Please join us in celebrating this distinct honor.

Legislation Introduced to Alleviate Impact of Conversion Factor Cut for 2021

Nov 09, 2020

Last month, two bills were introduced in the House proposing solutions to the estimated 10.6% Physician Fee Schedule conversion factor cut expected to go into effect January 1, 2021.  The bills offer some relief to the cut, but do not reflect a comprehensive or long-term solution.  AAPM&R has therefore chosen to remain neutral regarding these bills.

Your Academy continues to advocate for a permanent solution to the conversion factor cut while maintaining the important payment increases to office and outpatient evaluation and management services.
