Licensure Requirements and Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Requirements

- Each issue of the monthly PM&R Journal includes a complimentary CME activity—up to 36 credits per year are part of your Academy membership! Read clinically relevant and evidence-based research and review information on a variety of PM&R topics.
Your Membership Includes the Resources to Meet Current Fundamental MOC Requirements
- Fellow and Associate members: Receive one complimentary self-assessment examination for practitioners (SAE-P)—earn 8 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ to meet your Part II requirement. Don't want to use it this year? You can "bank" your complimentary SAE-Ps as long as you maintain your membership.
- All practice improvement projects (PIPs) are available to all members at no cost to meet your Part IV requirement.
- Your Academy offers a large portfolio of peer-developed resources (via its mē® site) — including SAE-Ps, slide lectures, case studies, online courses, and more — as well as educational events to help you fulfill your continuing medical education (CME) state licensure requirements. Members save up to 50% on mē® activities.
A note regarding Part III: Only you can fulfill the Part III requirement by taking the Maintenance of Certification Examination; however, your Academy offers study resources at discounted rates for members, including an 800+ question practice exam!
Quality Reporting
Your Academy continues to focus on building knowledge and resources to help members successfully participate in quality reporting programs. Our offerings include:
- AAPM&R's Registry: The Academy's qualified clinical quality data registry allows participants to help advance patient care while meeting their MIPS and ABPMR MOC part IV requirements.
- Quality Payment Program (QPP): The QPP signifies the most extensive change in physician payment policies in the last two decades by combining existing quality reporting programs into one new system. The QPP will reform Medicare Part B payments and improve care across the health care delivery system.
- Merit-Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS): MIPS is a program that streamlines three currently independent programs to work as one: Electronic Health Record Incentive Program/Meaningful Use (MU), Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS), and Value-Based Modifier (VBM) to determine Medicare payment adjustments.
Coding & Reimbursement
Coding incorrectly equals lost revenue. AAPM&R has resources and educational tools to help physiatrists, billers, coders, and office managers keep up-to-date on the latest PM&R-specific coding and billing changes.
Benefits and compensation of the individual physiatrist impact the overall health of the specialty and its place in medicine. In 2017, your Academy completed a PM&R Physician Compensation Survey Report. AAPM&R members who join or renew their dues for 2018 will receive a report of the findings as a benefit of membership.
