CMS Virtual Office Hour on PQRS: August 16

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced the first session of a 3-part Virtual Office Hours series regarding 2016 Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) quality measures. The series includes 3 separate sessions that cover topics related to PQRS measures, such as a brief explanation of a quality measure, measures-related resources, and next steps for participation in 2016 PQRS.   • Jeff Kramer, MD, physiatrist at Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation Hospital, recently joined as a new board member of Alternatives in Motion (AIM), a nonprofit providing donated mobility equipment and repair services to those in need. Congratulations, Dr. Kramer! Read more.
  • W. Jerry Mysiw, MD, chairman of the department of PM&R at Ohio State, discusses his team’s 5-year research study to find whether deep-brain stimulation, which uses electricity to regulate, block or stimulate brain waves, could improve patients with severe traumatic brain injuries. Read more.
  • Chloe Slocum, MD, was recently named the 2016-2017 Commonwealth Fund Mongan Fellow in Minority Health Policy by the Harvard Medical School Office of Diversity Inclusion and Community Partnership and Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Fellows are chosen from all fields of medicine and surgery in the United States and there were only 4 that were awarded this year. Congratulations, Dr. Slocum!
